I don't know what the hell is going on here, but the live music options in the next week+ are deafening. Unless you pick up an indy week or have friends that are "connected", you might miss who's showing up. Here are just the ones I happen to know, which isn't saying much and which probably means there are about twelve other shows worth seeing:
Tonight (Fri):
English Beat at cat's cradle (saw em last year; still got it)
(and of course matt wood's band in chapel hill)
Saturday:
Pink Martini, who I cannot say enough amazing things about. Playing the NC museum of art. http://www.pinkmartini.com/sympathique/sympathique.mov for a taste.
Rosebuds & Chatham County Line at lincoln theatre
Sunday:
Your day of rest. However, there's an a cappella gospel choir at southern village that sounds pretty great.
Monday:
No Doubt at walnut creek
Tuesday:
Steely Dan at DPAC
Wednesday:
Rosebuds at Duke Gardens followed nicely by....
Steve Earle at carrboro's arts center
Thursday:
Grizzly Bear at cat's cradle, who's supposedly amazing as propped by mr. russell.
Oh, and elvis costello next Sunday. Koka booth.
Lights.
