Every Christmas, Fudgie the Whale became Santa Claus.

With a 90-degree turn counter-clockwise and a little red icing, the same pan created an entirely new character at Carvel.

Fudgie’s famous friend, the legendary space alien from planet birthday known as Cookie Puss, also had a few alter egos. Take away his cupcake eyes and add icing strings and he was a guitar cake. Give him green icing and an Irish lilt and he turned into Cookie O' Puss around March 17th.

This multitasking touched every holiday. The chocolate-covered Easter egg became a football on Super Bowl Sunday. Cookie Chic became Tom the Turkey at the end of November. And Smiley turned into Clown, Pumpkin, Dog Face or Cat Face at a moment’s notice.

All this was completely obvious. And no one could care less. That’s simplicity to me. It doesn’t take a million dollars or a customized cake pan, just a little imagination.

And yes, the cakes are still available at Carvel franchises upon request.
